The Lost

Under Their Noses
Planet of Hate

Day One

Dropped on the planet x miles from ruins
attacked by strange “dog like” creatures dubbed “Kaemen”
first ruins had skeletal remains of humanoid creatures
ruins had chambers
“tag” left behind for us to find again
make camp and wait for morning.

Day Two

a nearby mountain seems to have an unusual metallic signature in the side of it. we move closer to investigate
the swamp like terrain is very hard to get through.
we eventually stop to change out the tires for tracks.
several forms of indiginous plant life that seems “odd” are collected for us to analyze later.
second set of ruins that appear to be an outpost or hunters cabin.
cabin had a hidden chamber beneath it that was sealed with a rock and melted from the inside preventing the occupants from leaving.
one of the skeletons was a ranik. clearly been there a very long time.
we made camp there.

Day Three

small leach like creature is discovered that boroughs into its victim “gubber sharks.”
a clawed creature that can breakate is seen.
we collect a sample of the leach and the odd oil its leaves behind.
once at the base of the mountain we made our way to the odd signal on foot.
turns out to be a ranik ship that crashed many years ago.
only the rear section was intacted enough or us to get things from
a gravidic controller was left on, but was not functioning. the power was cut and the data vices were collected.
an odd device was found in a secret compartment that is nothing like the ranik tech.
we make camp again

Day Four

we are awoken by a fight between kaemen that is quickly over, but a taradactal like creature comes in and drives the remaining kaemen to us. we fight them off fairly easy. turns out those kaemen were inffected by the gubber sharks. after killing those the taradactile attacks us and we eventually kill it. it falls into a stream and is quickly overtaken by gubber sharks.
we call for the ship at great risk to exposing our location, but there is no way we could get back to the rendezvous on time.

new site for info

so, I got almost everything from this site over at the site. the exception is GM secrets. let me know if you have any and I will show you how to move them there. otherwise, this site is not going to be used anymore.

thanks. i hope to see you all there.

Farodade Isolation

After further investigation, the colony from nuew frankfurt was found in a near by system. they were on the 3rd moon of a gas giant with a well constructed em screen shielding them from being screened. high geothermic activity is used for powering and the colony started to build underground to avoid detection but allow for expansion. the planet was named New Persefany. after a few days of diplomatic missions, a ranaic patrol was spotted and pursued. one of the three ships was captured (the other two destroyed) and some ranic crew was taken prisoner. for all the damage made in the capture, the ship was left in tact. the ships returned to New Persefany.

The Wall
Immortality in Memory

The underwritten is a digital memorial to those who marched with us, or without us into battle and never returned. It is a remembrance of brave souls robbed of their time in this universe. It is our resistance to the ever-present force of death in the world, that no man or woman shall truly perish forever. These are friends. These are allies. These are immortal, and we shall not relinquish them from our memories.

Dr. Jacob Mercer – Brilliant scientist, dedicated researcher, caring doctor.

Petty Officer First Class Akio Iwata – Demolitions Specialist, bright, quiet and quick to master any pursuit.

Lieutenant Thomas “Tommy” Daniels – Unfaltering character, inspiring leader, beloved husband and father.

Chief Petty Officer Michael Jennings – Close Quarters Expert, tough as nails, honest to a fault, beloved husband.

Petty Officer First Class Rio Chaves – Support Specialist, Expert Marksman, devoted man of God.

[OOC: The list goes on, detailing the names and descriptions of the dead. Some names you recognize regularly, others are vaguely familiar, some you may have no recollection of at all.]

The above are heroes, dying in pursuit of the betterment of humanity, immortalized within our memories and upon this memorial.

Arterial Motives

The TPE Watermark has visited three planets since Randos 1. Belladonna, a swampy world around a solar-analog, had its colony wiped out by some, as yet to be determined, conflict. Speculations range from a black-ops strike during the colony’s war to internal conflict or a Ranik attack. [kanji] (still wind) initially greeted the Watermark and asked to enter into negotiations for admittance into the TPC. The diplomatic team, as per deployment protocols, was never congregated in a single place nor were they without armed guard. As a show of good faith, the armed detail was kept minimalistic. A portion of the diplomatic detail was captured armed assailants. The government of [kanji] (still wind) did not take credit for the attack and offered to move the remaining diplomats to hardened bunkers. Drake was uncomfortable with placing his personnel’s safety in such unproven allies. He agreed to start moving the personnel to bunkers but moved stealthed units into position to take the remaining diplomats off planet. This proved to be an appropriate decision, as the Government of [kanji] (still wind) proved to be behind the first attack. Drake gave the command to forcefully extract the remaining diplomats and sent a special ops team in to find and recover the remaining diplomats. The watermark stayed within the atmosphere and fought off aerial threats in order to allow the ops team to progress without the threat of air support. The missing diplomats were found already dead, the ops team was recovered, and the Watermark retreated to space and destroyed the satellite defenses of the planet. The scrap was recovered in order to deny [kanji] (still wind) from rapidly rebuilding their defenses. Neue Frankfurt, a relatively arid planet orbiting a solar-twin, was found, and the colony was decimated. Evidence found within to the colony suggested that the attack was decades old and Ranik in origin. The TPE Watermark stayed for some time in order to do full repairs and collect needed resources.

We're back!
Back on the Saddle

No Better Way
To the fallen, and the estranged.

Drone Assistant Action Log::

1040. After some discussion with the rest of the Team, a plan is laid out to finish the mission and visit another^1 (utility weapon has been set to EMP). Utility Bots 15 and 17 are now carrying the mainframe core. The doors are opened and several of the mutations are blown away by the firing line (new event added: marksmanship classes). At this time a strange image of a woman comes over the visuals and a spike in activity is noted, but nothing is recorded. Mericia explains that she is Psychic and that there are some side effects of her powers. The team then makes its way to the 5th level.

1100. Once at the 5th level, a significant amount of resistance is met, but then there is a sudden drop and a great deal of acid in all but one direction of various hallway splits. After turning with a few of them, Anastas asks to send a bot to follow the trail. Bot 13 is sent and finds that the mutations were waiting to ambush the team (bot terminated). Team makes its way over the acid to the target room.

1120. Once there, you run into two, very large reapers. You maintain seeking out the canister while the team holds off the mutations. Once located, bots 10 and 5 take hold of it. Bots 4 and 7 go to see what is in the special room^1. A large, seemingly psychic mutant (or two?) is there. An attack is attempted….(bots terminated). During this time, Logan seems to be in great pain: “No, no. Its mine, no its not mine!” Mercer is pulled under the floor by a second great reaper. Fire Team Charlie V is on approach blocking the ambushing mutants from gaining on your team. They are mostly terminated by mutant attack.

1127. After the strange, “mother” mutant is killed, the other mutants seem to lose their ability to be organized. Resistance getting out of the CDC is light as a result, and you return to the roof and board Charlie V’s ship.

1235. You return to the infirmary. Given several meds for your head aches and slightly fractured skull. The information and video is given over to intelligence. You return to your quarters and begin working on repairing and replacing the bots.

1246. Bot logs deactivated…

Personal Entry::

There are not words for what I saw today. Well, there are, but I really don’t care to say them. William Tecumseh Sherman had it right; even if this was not an actual war, it was in fact Hell. I can’t help but think of how those mutants didn’t have a choice to die. The Humans were all there, but they were far gone. There is a good reason the TPC outlawed such weapons. They are not for our universe. I don’t care whether the Ranic race lives or dies, but we should not be manufacturing weapons to use on them if we would not even make them to use on ourselves. Death needs to be quick, and painless. And * * * * this moron named Hammond. He is the problem to his own methods.
I was far too ineffective. I can’t shoot worth beans in combat. I will spend some time at the firing range… oh look, even my bots fracking agree! Here it is, a time at the range with the savior of our team, the great Jules! Good thing the team captain did even worse than me! Guess I’ll go then…
I really wish I got more time with that, um, “Alien.” Need a name for it. Maybe I’ll call him Kevin.
I REALLY wish I had not lost communications with the Water Mark. Had I known that Charlie V was coming in, I might have been able to warn them of the huge number of mutants that were waiting for us. And tell them to just bring grav. shields and explosives. Though, I don’t know how much more the structure could have taken… I will work on building a com system that can ignore most jamming and impedance.
I need a drink! All I got is water…. Water it is.

"The Beast" Journal Entry
We need more practice

Day 36 ( April 3rd ):
First mission – while en route back to the ship:
Today we arrived at Randos 1. The ship’s mission was to get some information about this planet. I guess they lost contact with it a while back and were wondering what exactly happened. So Alpha and Bravo team were sent down to the planet and Charlie team stayed on the ship to drop in whenever we were needed. When the other teams got down there, they started seeing some weird mutant things, which turned out to be hostile. Alpha saw the first Ranik on the planet. We were called in to secure some disease control building, so we dropped in hot. Once we were on the surface, we had to fight our way into the building. Inside the building we found even more of these mutants and we saw one Ranik who ran away, but he seemed to be guarding another dead Ranik. When we searched around this Ranik, we found one of their weapons, so we took it. We explored the rest of the first floor and fought some slug like mutant things, they were really gross. And they were being thrown at us by this thing that looked like a bunch of bodies joined together, weird. Then as we were moving out, we saw the Ranik that had ran away, but he didn’t seem to be hostile, so we followed him. He took us to a room with some more dead Ranik, and it looked like he had killed them. After some difficult communication, we figured out that they were mutating, and that is why he killed them. Dexter used his holographic wrist thing to communicate locations with the Ranik who pointed out a spot in the building that was next to where we were going, so we moved out.

As we were leaving that room, Hammond came blasting through the roof right into the middle of a group of mutants as we were about to open fire. He did not communicate with us on this plan and just did what he wanted because he thought that it would make him look good. Later, I told him how stupid this was. After that, we moved down to a server room where the techies got information and stuff. Then we blasted our way out of that room because a bunch of the mutants had gathered around the door. We ran to the room that had the case that we needed to get, I think it had some kind of virus or something in it. When we get there, we run into a really big mutant, so we form a firing line. We shoot it as it runs to us, but it is able to reach our front line, where I was. After the stupid “Throw Gun” wouldn’t work, I pulled out my hammer and helped finish it. While we were fighting that one, another came through the floor behind us and got Mercer. Also, there were mutants coming through the hallway behind us. And another Charlie team was in the building and they tried to buy us some time. After we dealt with all of the mutants, the Ranik took a bunch of explosives and ran into a room where it blew up a mutant that seemed to be able to control stuff with its mind. I’m glad I didn’t have to fight it. We were able to take two of the Ranik’s laser sword things, which are really cool.

We lost a lot of men, not just Mercer, but most of that other Charlie team as well. I’m not sure how the other teams did, but I think that we need to practice together a lot more. When we get back on the ship, I am going to go to the gym for the after mission exercises, I wonder if the rest of my team will join me, or if they will be doing their own training.

Journal of Charles Eamon
If it doesn't move and it should, I'll fix it. If it moves and it shouldn't, I'll fix it.

Day 1 (actual dates to be added later).

Difficult getting used to the crowd here. Everyone looks at me like I’m some sort of hillbilly erse until I gab something like “Anterior-superior iliac crest”, and then they have to pick their jaws off the floor because I ken basic anatomical terminology.
I knew I’d stick out like a sore thumb, but I didn’t expect to have everyone thinking I’m some sort of numpty who stumbled onto the ship. Well, they’ll just have to get over it. Hell, I have to get over the baltic temp they keep the ship at. All they got to do is get used to my accent.

Ps. Auto-correct can die and go to a special place in Hell. Yes, I meant “erse”, now stop telling me to spell it like a Londoner.

Day 3

I didn’t actually expect to be able to keep a log. Usually too dead busy to find time for more than mission reports between my hobbies. Speaking of which, I think I’ve figured out some good gadgets to cook up for my team. Probably won’t touch this log for a while – except I guess for that one page with the schematic I doodled, pure craziness. I think if I got some spare servos and

(the next fifteen pages consist of scribbles and vaguely readable mechanical terminology.)

Day (Uhh, how many days have I been on this ship? It’s not chanking cold anymore, so… a while I guess.)

Almost finished with Jennings’ new SMG. He’ll be the first of my teammates to learn the dulion craftsmanship of a Cinnaen gunsmith! If evil laughter could truly be contained in written form…
In all seriousness, though, he’s gonna love this crap. Smooth trigger pull, recoil cancellation, upped the caliber for extra stopping power. I just might keep this thing when I’m done. I guess it’ll have to wait until after tomorrow. Mission or something I guess.

Day ( )

Petty Officer First Class Akio Iwata – Squad demo expert. Sharp mind, nimble fingers. He didn’t talk much, but when he did, it was best to shut up and listen to him. He grew up on earth and picked up his trade in the military. Hell, the guy picked up just about everything. He was going to start taking machining training so he could get custom gear like mine.
Went down when the hoard flanked us; Tommy shot the bastards off of him, but… All I could do was make sure we had something to remember him by.

Lieutenant Thomas “Tommy” Daniels – Squad lead, nerves stronger than any man’s armor. I still admire the man’s loyalty to his cause. I’m sure that if the TPC ordered him to march into the bowels of hell, he’d go without a second thought. I’m sure we’d all have followed him there, too. Why? Because we did. Your dad better as hell be proud of you now.
It turns out spirit isn’t enough to stop whipping scythes. Three-round-burst does the job, though. I made sure it went down, L-T.

Chief Petty Officer Richard Dominic – Squad technician. We didn’t have much in common. You were a city kid, never knew an honest day’s work until your parents sent you to military school… but you learned. You seemed to make a hobby out of proving me wrong. I just wish you could have kept your streak going long enough to prove me wrong when I thought you were done for.
Rest in peace, Dominic.

Chief Petty Officer Michael Jennings – Squad CQB expert. I’m sorry. I couldn’t grab your tags. I wasn’t fast enough for it. I couldn’t improve your odds with the gun I was making for you… I guess I wasn’t fast enough for that either. I hope Atos got the bastert that robbed you of your escape.

Rio Chaves – Squad Fire Support. It should’ve been me. I don’t know what else to say. You were so damn close, but we were too deaf to hear the leaper coming. I’m glad that I could spend time shooting at the range with you. I’m not sure why they’d saddle an expert marksman with an LMG, but you made it work.

You all fought valiantly to the end.
No one deserves to die in a place like that…

Command says that I’ve been promoted to Charlie 5’s leader spot until it’s decided what will become of the squad. Ha, me, commanding a squad? That’s a load of crap. Everyone knows Charlie 5 is finished. It’s just Lowjack and me now, and no one’s going to want to transfer to a squad that got its roster wiped. I guess I’ll just have to wait of reassignment.

Thank God for dogs. Eithne can’t possibly know what happened, but she knows me well enough to try and cheer me up.

I have a hangover roughly the size of Jupiter’s 3rd moon (what the hell is that called again?). Clearly, it’s time for breakfast…

Just another day in the zombie filled office
It lurks in the darkness, and so do we!

Drone Assistant Action Log::

(Log of hostiles created)

0903. The team begins to execute the plan to secure the first floor. [two drone assigned to follow special target]. You make your way to the north-west entrance to the shuttle bay and send in a drone to see what is there. A strange form of the new creatures is spotted. It begins to send slugs into the other door. You and Gyre stay to seal this door while the others run to intercept the slugs before they get too many in.

0915. The door is sealed and the other doors are being sealed after the team fought off the slugs. [drone destroyed by friendly grenade] While in the cargo hold for the first floor, you find a large stash of base and some materials to fashion a dispensing system to be held on people’s backs and one hand held system. Atose (Mecha), Beast, and Anastas (hand held) each take a system. With the doors to the rest of the floor apparently being sealed by special target you make a new plan to use the stair well to get to the 3rd floor. At this time, it is realized that the drones following the special target are bound.

0932. Shamblers, Jumpers, and some slugs are headed down the halls to the cargo room. We back up to the stair well and make for the lower floors. * * * * CLASSIFIED DETAILS * * * *

[Jamming signal detected. Relay line forming to reestablish communications with Watermark]

1006. Walter Hammond “drops in” and helps fight of some of the hostiles, including the stealthy reapers. You make your way to the 5th sub level. This time you can move quickly with little resistance. When you get to the server room, two reapers are seen on the ceiling. They are killed and you enter the server room. Nothing is in there except the skeleton of a scientist and a very clean, very old time computer bay.

1020. You hack into the terminal and power up an old recorder device from the scientist. You gain access to the needed files and begin to get access codes to the fifth floor and try to find some footage and logs about what happened there. Also gain information on where the physical disconnects are for the security systems and power.
